Albert Hammond Jr cancels Australian tour

Albert Hammond Jr. has been forced to call off his tour of Australia, including a slot at Splendour In The Grass, due to a “severe throat infection”. The statement from The Frontier Touring Company reads: “Albert is suffering a severe throat infection that has resulted in him losing his voice. He has been advised against performing by his doctor.”

All patrons holding tickets to any of the shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane can seek a refund from the original point of sale. The shows are likely to be rescheduled for later in the year.

And on the Splendour side of things: “Splendour in the Grass organisers would like to advise Albert Hammond Jr was a welcome late addition to the festival line up this year and playing times were adjusted to accommodate his performance. There will no replacement announced for this time slot and the playing times will now return to the original schedule for the Grant McLennan stage on Sunday August 3rd.”

Whats a shame.........hopefully Albert fully recovers and comes back soon to play some kick-ass shows!!!

CANCELLED SHOWS:
Wednesday 30 July – Prince Bandroom, Melbourne
Friday 1 August – The Gaelic Theatre, Sydney
Saturday 2 August – The Zoo, Brisbane

Albert Hammond Jr to release album dos!!

Following his 2007 solo debut 'Yours To Keep', Albert Hammond, Jr. and his merry men return with a new album '¿Cómo Te Llama?' (or "What's Your Name?" in Spanish).

The album is set for an early July release.

The record took 5 weeks to record at Electric Lady Studios and was produced by Albert along with engineer Gus Oberg and drummer Romano.

Also, according to Albert's close colleagues, the shadows of The Kinks, The Clash and Crazy Horse-era Neil Young were cast over Albert's songwriting on the record; "Not so much that the album sounds like any of those bands, its just they gave me a new way to express my songwriting."

With a tour penciled for summer, the band are in exuberant spirits, as Albert reveals; "Our goal is to tour this album every where we can, get into those cracks and fill them up with music!"
