V Festival second announcement

After announcement one, questions were raised about whether this years V Festival line-up was solid or not, well we think this new injection of acts should shut those critics up. In past years we’ve had old schoolers The Pixies, Pet Shop Boys and Jesus and Mary Chain named, well look which grandfather of ska is coming this year.

Leading the second round are the ska godfathers Madness and synth-pop trendsetters The Human League, who’ll be performing their 1981 album 'Dare' in its entirety. As predicted earlier, The Kills have also joined the line-up. M83 have also been announced and will definitely be a highlight of the festival. Jenny Lewis will be there, as well as a few locals including the bloody fantastic Jackson Jackson, Howling Bells, Wolf & Cub and Children Collide.

V Festival sideshows announced

We all know V Festival is the only place to catch The Killers, but some of the line-up’s other stars will be doing sideshows. Sure to inspire the most feverish rush for tickets is the lager-raising double-bill of Kaiser Chiefs and Razorlight. Expect a hearty English ex-pat contingent to contend for space with the bands’ Australian fans.

Then there’s Mercury Prize victors Elbow in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. All shows go on sale Thursday 5 February, so you best start working out how you're going to get a hold of some tickets.

As for the other 'unannounced' bands on the V festival bill (aka The Kills so far), wait till V announce them and they'll surely perform some sideshows too.

Razorlight to come back for V Festival

Hot off the press is the news that Razorlight will be returning to the Australian shores to perform at the V Festival.

They're currently about to hit Melbourne and Sydney for some intimate shows, however, the rest of Australia are missing out. Not to worry, they'll be back by April. In the meantime, for those not attending their sold out shows, get your hands on a copy of their new album 'Slipway Fires'. It may help whilst waiting for V Festival.

The Kills announced for V Festival

Shhhhh......hot off the press stuff here. Thanks to our beloved friends at Polaroids of Androids, we can tell you that unofficially, yet officially, The Kills have been added to the V Festival lineup for 2009.

They will be joining the likes of The Killers, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, Elbow, The Do, Tame Impala and more!!!

The 'official' next round of artists is expected to be announced early February.

For $140 this is amazing value!!! Oh and by the way, more news just in, The Killers will NOT be playing any sideshows this time around. The only performances in Australia will be at the V Festival.

V Festival 2009 announces The Killers and Snow Patrol

Yabadabadooooooooooooo....................

Heading up the line-up for V Festival 2009 will be the one of the biggest acts going around today, The Killers, who will be releasing their new album 'Day and Age' in only a few days time. Along with possibly the second biggest act going around today, Snow Patrol. It was only yesterday when we mentioned that Snow Patrol would be here shortly (performing tonight in Sydney) and we were right as per usual.

Mixing it up with the big boys are recent Mercury Prize award winners Elbow and UK outfit the Kaiser Chiefs. Doing their bit for the local scene are Modular sensations and Aussie export hopefuls, Tame Impala and the boys from Melbourne, the Temper Trap.

There are more bands playing, but we only mentioned the ones worth mentioning and writing about.

The upcoming V Festival has music geeks excited, and with good reason. There are some fine fine acts on the bill. Michael Coppel Promotions has just announced that most of the line up are doing sideshows too.

Im only going to name the ones worth seeing. So, Smashing Pumpkins, Air, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Queens of the Stoneage, Modest Mouse + Hot Hot Heat and CSS will all play headline shows.

Modest Mouse and Hot Hot Heat added to V Festival

Modest Mouse and Hot Hot Heat lead the round two announcement of V Festival acts.

The festival, which will take place at the end of summer in Australia, also now has Roison Murphy, The Rakes, Cut Copy and Glass Candy on the line-up.

They join the previously announced Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age, Jesus & Mary Chain, Air and The Presets.

This shapes up to be a formidable lineup and no doubt should be an excellent festival.

V Festival Adelaide?

Not quite.

While the V Festival won't be making its way to Adelaide, some of the bands will.

Smashing Pumpkins and Queens of the Stone Age will be heading to South Australia in April.

Queens of the Stone Age will also play Hobart on April 4.
