Daniel Johns wins 3 at the APRA Awards

Daniel Johns has becoming the first person ever to win three APRA Awards in one year.

Johns was named APRA Songwriter of the Year last night at the ceremony in Sydney. 'Straight Lines', the song he wrote with Julian Hamilton of The Presets, was named Song of the Year, and 'Straight Lines' was also awarded for the Most Played Australian Work.

Sporting a black-eye, Johns got up to receive his gong from Peter Garrett and managed to say a few drunken, slurred words, "I really love my family, and I really love my management, and I really love everyone that I love.”

The Breakthrough Songwriter Award went to Sally Seltmann (aka New Buffalo) who write the Feist hit '1234', also used in the Apple commercial.

Rogue Traders were received Dance Work of the year for 'In Love Again'. It was their second APRA after winning in 2006.

John Butler won for Blues and Roots Work of the Year for 'Good Excuse'.

Daniel Johns and Natalie Imbruglia split!!!

Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has split with his wife of four years, Natalie Imbruglia.

Daniel Johns and the 'Torn' singer announced that they have decided to end their four-year marriage after "growing apart" due to the pressures of work.

In a joint statement they said: "While we are very sad that our marriage has ended we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends. This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly.
"However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us.

"We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together. We have issued this statement to set the record straight and to eliminate any need for speculation."

Imbruglia, 32, is based in the UK, while 28-year-old Silverchair frontman Johns has been living in their home country of Australia.

The pair met in 1999 and married on New Year's Eve in 2003 in a beachside ceremony in Queensland, Australia.
