The Living End have released their fifth long player 'White Noise'.
And singer Chris Cheney confirmed to Zan that the album nearly didn't happen.
There were a few months following their last big national tour for 'State Of Emergency' where they weren't sure whether the band would continue.
"I was at first thinking that I wasn't really interested in making another record until there was a real want to do it. And so we took six months off or something and didn't do much. I think the other guys were told not to call me. I was really fairly burnt out by the whole thing."
The Living End kick off their 'White Noise' national tour mid-September.
TV On The Radio's new album 'Dear Science,' is set to be released on September 23rd!
Produced by the group’s multi-instrumentalist Dave Sitek, the album finds the Brooklyn group fine-tuning what they did best on 2006’s 'Return to Cookie Mountain' - weaking and looping and distorting a grand arsenal of aggressive percussion, new wave synths, epic guitar noise and various kitchen-sink devices, then layering them all into a big, beautiful art-rock symphony. But of all the instruments on the new record, the most compelling one is Tunde Adebimpe’s voice.
The tracklisting is as follows:
1. Halfway Home 2. Crying 3. Dancing Choose 4. Stork & Owl 5. Golden Age 6. Family Tree 7. Red Dress 8. Love Dog 9. Shout Me Out 10. DLZ 11. Lover's Day www.tvontheradio.com
It's called 'The Escapist' and it's the first taste of their fourth album due mid-September.
It's taken Mike Skinner two and a half years to finish the record. He's blogged at his myspace that it'll have a peaceful, positive vibe compared to the last release and it's likely to be called 'Everything Is Borrowed'.
Mike also reckons the next Streets album will be the last and that it'll have a dark and futuristic sound, similar to the Lou Reed classic 'Berlin'. www.the-streets.co.uk
With previous news of our favourite geezers of Britpop vintage – Supergrass – coming to Australia for The Great Escape Festival in October, now its time to announce they have just announced their sideshows.
It’s the first time the lads have visited our shores since the release of their 2002 album Life On Other Planets'' and in that time they have popped out two more musical gems, the latest being ''Diamond Hoo Ha'', an awesome return to form for the side-burned purveyors of pop.
These shows are sure to be full of foot-stomping, hand clapping, anthem singing goodness so don’t miss out!

The track 'Crawl' is available to download from www.kingsofleon.com from Monday July 28.
The band's label say that the download will also be available in "handy widget format", so bloggers and webmasters can add the track to their own sites.
The first official single from the album will be 'Sex On Fire'. The band are also playing a huge arena tour in December.
Fratellis frontman Jon Fratelli has spoken out about his anxiety over the band’s forthcoming Australian tour.
John has a fear of flying, made no better by the fact that his flight to Australia comes only a week since the same flight was forced to make an emergency landing when a hole was torn in its fuselage at 30,000ft.
Jon told The Sun: "I might just decide never to fly again. I was getting better. The phobia wasn’t so bad, then pieces of airplanes rip off and they show it all over the news and freak you out!
"What’s worse is it was a Qantas plane flying from London to Australia, which is what I’m getting on!"
The Fratellis will spend three weeks touring Australia and Japan before heading back for Reading and Leeds Festival on August 22-24.
All shows are sold out across the country including the Splendour in the Grass festival this weekend!!!!
Albert Hammond Jr. has been forced to call off his tour of Australia, including a slot at Splendour In The Grass, due to a “severe throat infection”. The statement from The Frontier Touring Company reads: “Albert is suffering a severe throat infection that has resulted in him losing his voice. He has been advised against performing by his doctor.”
All patrons holding tickets to any of the shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane can seek a refund from the original point of sale. The shows are likely to be rescheduled for later in the year.
And on the Splendour side of things: “Splendour in the Grass organisers would like to advise Albert Hammond Jr was a welcome late addition to the festival line up this year and playing times were adjusted to accommodate his performance. There will no replacement announced for this time slot and the playing times will now return to the original schedule for the Grant McLennan stage on Sunday August 3rd.”
Whats a shame.........hopefully Albert fully recovers and comes back soon to play some kick-ass shows!!!

Music fans might soon have their iPods searched by Customs officers at airport checks - and face jail if pirated music is found on them.
The push for the unprecedented searches of travellers’ laptops and MP3 players has been revealed in a leaked discussion paper relating to a treaty being negotiated by the Australian Federal Government. It suggests criminal sanctions for infringements on a commercial scale.
That meant innocent pop and rock fans with huge song libraries could unwittingly be hit with jail for commercial piracy, according to Internet Industry Association chief executive Peter Coroneos.
"It talks about (sanctions for) commercial infringements – does that mean one, 10, 20 or 1000 songs? It could be that people get sent to jail for being in possession of commercial-scale quantities of copied music.’’
Foreign Minister Stephen Smith’s office has confirmed the Government was a part of negotiations for the international agreement, but Australia had not signed nor agreed to any aspect.
The staff at Music Universe believe this is one of the most ridiculous suggestions the Rudd Government has come up with so far. It is extremely inappropriate and in a sense an invasion of privacy. Leave off!!!
Six of the UK's biggest internet service providers have agreed to take tougher sanctions against users who download music illegally.
BT, Virgin, Orange, Tiscali, BSkyB and Carphone Warehouse will now send warning letters to their most prolific violators.
The agreement, signed in collaboration with the Government, also wants ISPs to go further in order to make their users aware that sharing music is illegal.
But many ISPs, including some who have signed up to the memorandum, are thought to be against music industry proposals to disconnect users who ignore warnings.
The “three strikes and you're out” rule is already under consideration in France. But it has previously drawn caution from internet providers in the United Kingdom, including the Carphone Warehouse.
The memorandum states that ISPs and representatives from the music and film industries must draw up proposals on how to best tackle the worst offenders of the 6.5million illegal downloaders in the UK.
It's thought that creating legal file-sharing sites will be at the top of their agenda. Their findings will then be presented to the Government who will draw up any future legislation.
A quick note from the staff of Music Universe to those that do download illegally........ENOUGH!
Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has promised that their new album will be more “disco-driven” than their previous two long-players.
The band have already road-tested a number of tracks at Latitude festival and on their tour of intimate venues around the UK, but Kapranos insists they've got a few surprises up their sleeves.
The 36-year-old said of the as-yet-untitled album: "The album has more of a disco dance floor sort of tempo. While the music is not necessarily disco music, it is around about that tempo and it makes you move in that kind of a way.
"There's definitely a different feel. I've been noticing the audiences moving in a different kind of way to the way they might have moved to the older songs."
Speaking to Newsbeat, Kapranos downplayed the idea that the record would incorporate afro-beat sounds, following their African Exprez show with Damon Albarn.
He continued: "I think the African thing got a little exaggerated because we did the Africa Exprez gig a wee while ago and I think drummer Paul (Thomson) and I mentioned we'd been listening to some Ethiopian bands.
"Suddenly everybody thought we were making an afro-beat album. But we're not really. I think we're incapable of making an afro-beat album. It's always going to sound like a Franz Ferdinand album."
The album is scheduled for release in January 2009.
Metallica has revealed the official track listing (in the final running order) for its new album, "Death Magnetic".
It is as follows:
01. That Was Just Your Life 02. The End Of The Line 03. Broken, Beat & Scarred 04. The Day That Never Comes 05. All Nightmare Long 06. Cyanide 07. The Unforgiven III 08. The Judas Kiss 09. Suicide & Redemption 10. My Apocalypse
Frontman James Hetfield explained the meaning of the record's title, saying, "It started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like (Alice In Chains frontman) Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically — rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there. Thinking about death...just like a magnet, some people are drawn towards it, (and) other people are afraid of it and push away."
Hetfield added, "The concept that we're all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about — no one wants to bring it up; it's the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point."
Track 7 is titled 'The Unforgiven III". Umm.......does anyone else notice? Could this be the third installment of the brilliant song? Jeeeeeeeeez www.metallica.com
Dr Dre's long-awaited new album, 'Detox', should be finished by the end of 2008.
The rapper/producer's third studio LP will be the belated follow-up to the multi-platinum selling record '2001' which, despite its name, came out in 1999.
Speaking to USA TodayDre said: "I'm just now - over the last couple of months - starting to feel that it's going to be right and it's something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it.
"In a perfect world I'm shooting for a November or December release. I'm going to put this record out, promote it, tour and then become a hermit. I'm going to stay in the studio and produce."
An exciting time in a music lover’s calendar, around the universe, is the day the nominations of the Mercury Music Prize are announced. So get excited music lovers around the universe!
The Mercury Music Prize is a prize that honours the “best” British album of the year, and is judged by a selection of artists, journalists and industry personnel. Traditionally the winner is not necessarily a huge seller, but almost always the winner has received almost universal critical acclaim.
This year the list of finalists is as diverse as ever with probably the least likely appearance coming from Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ ‘Raising Sand’ album.
Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ is probably the least surprising album to make an appearance – it is the fifth time an album featuring Thom Yorke has made the short list. Alex Turner makes his third apppearance.
It is quite a shock to notice Portishead’s ‘Third’ didn’t quite make the cut, neither did the latest from M.I.A.
Previous winners include last year's The Klaxons, Dizzee Rascal, Antony and the Johnsons, The Arctic Monkeys and even M-People, who beat Blur’s ‘Parklife’ and Pulp’s ‘Different Class’ to the prize in 1994.
Chair of Judges Simon Frith said of those choices: "What is most striking is the continued resilience and flexibility of the album as a way of organising music-making. It remains an unrivalled source of musical invention and imagination, a way of linking songs, exploring themes and developing sounds that is endlessly thrilling, surprising and worth celebration."
And the nominations are............
Adele - 19 British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music? Burial - Untrue Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid Estelle - Shine Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim Neon Neon - Stainless Style Portico Quartet - Knee-Deep in the North Sea Rachel Unthank & The Winterset - The Bairns Radiohead - In Rainbows Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of the Understatement

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke claims he was the victim of a racist assault involving the entourage of Sex Pistols star John Lydon.
The incident occurred at the Summercase Festival in Barcelona, Spain, on Saturday (19.07.08) and was reportedly witnessed by over 50 people. The alleged assault occurred when John Lydon fan Kele approached the rocker - also known as Johnny Rotten - to ask if he would ever consider reforming his band Public Image Limited.
According to an official statement released by Bloc Party's publicist, the 52-year-old became intimidating and aggressive, while his associates responded with a "racist tirade" which included the comment "your problem is your black attitude".
Three people reportedly punched the 'I Still Remember' singer and attacked people who tried to intervene, including Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson and Foals singer Yannis Philippakis.
Talking about the alleged assault, Kele said: "It's not an issue of the physical assault, even though it was an unprovoked attack, it is the fact that race was brought into the matter so readily. Someone as respected and as intelligent as Lydon should know better than to bring race into the equation, or socialise with and encourage those who hold such narrow-minded attitudes. I am disappointed that someone I held with such high regard turns out to be such a bigot."
The attack left Kele with facial cuts and bruises. One witness described Lydon's entourage as "acting like a gang of racist thugs". Festival security broke up the altercation, which was reported to Spanish police. Kele also officially reported the incident on his return to the UK.
Frontman of The Pixies – who left audiences shaking when they reformed in 06 and headlined the V Festival for their first shows EVER in Australia – Black Francis (alka Frank Black) has released his most seminal albums to date in the last two years.

Dizzee, real-name Dylan Mills, says that he is following in frontman Alex Turner’s footsteps by "getting it all out while he’s young".
He told the Daily Star: "I haven’t seen much of Alex recently because he’s so busy. He’s got his hands full doing Arctic Monkeys and The Last Shadow Puppets and loads of other stuff." He said: "I admire that, it’s cool. He’s getting it all out while he’s young. You’ve got to. It’s inspiring and I totally relate to it. I’m following the same path."

The Datsuns are in the final stages of their 4th studio album.
Cooking Vinyl will release the yet to be titled album in Europe in September.
About the new album, guitarist Christian Livingstone says, ““We recorded an album in Sweden - we went there because the people are very good-looking over there. That’s very important when you’re recording an album - you must surround yourself with good-looking people. We wrote it in Germany and went to Sweden and recorded it. It’s got a whole heap of different stuff. It’s not a record where every song sounds the same. There’s a psychedelic track, something quite epic, a punk song and a couple of pop songs - so it all comes under the umbrella of rock ’n’ roll. We’ve got short attention spans so we like to try different things.”
As a complement to his first solo tour in April, which only visited the US West Coast, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will head east for another round of dates later this summer, beginning Aug. 1-2 in Boston.

After previously stating they would not tour this band live and having just wowed Glastonbury with a special appearance from Jack White, The Last Shadow Puppets – aka Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane of the Rascals – are keen to keep touring. They’ve locked in a string of shows in Europe and America, and they’re not thinking small.
The duo is bringing a 16-piece orchestra along for the ride, which should be just enough musician-power to recreate the epic scope of debut album 'The Age Of Understatement'. Also lending a hand onstage will be Simian Mobile Disco man James Ford, who brought his production smarts to the record.
Despite the rise and rise of The Last Shadow Puppets, all is well in the Monkeys camp. According to guitarist James Cook, the Sheffield foursome has plans to return to the studio for album number three.

Zach De La Rocha, frontman for the born-again Rage Against The Machine, has teamed up with ex-Mars Volta member Jon Theodore as 'One Day As A Lion'. With De La Rocha on keys and vocals and Theodore behind the drum-kit, the band will unveil its debut EP this month. A statement from the guys accompanying the five-track release reveals in no uncertain terms that there’ll be no mellowing-the-fuck-out.
One Day As A Lion is “a defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask.”
As far as the band name goes, “it’s taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: ‘It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.’ This record is a stripped down attempt to realise this sentiment in sound.”
The sounds of Rage Against The Machine mashed up with Mars Volta makes us sick to the stomach. I think there is a possiblity of self-combustion once this music hits the stereo. Oh god.
Lily Allen has announced that her new album is complete.
