Coldplay new album may surprise

Coldplay are moving in a direction that is set to surprise people claim frontman Chris Martin, even suggesting that they may alienate fans.

The album, the follow-up to "X&Y" produced by Brian Eno, is almost complete.
Speaking in a new interview, Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland said the group decided to explore their freedom with the currently untitled LP.Guitarist Buckland explained: "We felt like the first three albums were a trilogy, and we finished that. So we wanted to do something different."

Martin continued: "Whether or not it's good, we certainly started to use more colours. It's impossible to please everybody, and it took us a while to learn that. "It's just the freedom to say, 'Everyone might not like this. We're into it at the moment, so let's just get it done.'"

There is currently no fixed release date for the album, although it is due for release in 2008.
