Oasis banned from China

Oasis have been banned from entering China.

Guess it ain't end of the world stuff considering their huge following amongst other countries in the world, but still, it's the reason why that makes this so interesting.

A statement was issued on behalf of the band saying that Chinese government officials had revoked their performance license because of their links to the Free Tibet campaign. It said that the Chinese government had discovered that guitarist Noel Gallagher had played a Free Tibet Benefit Concert in 1997 and so was deemed "unsuitable" to perform in the Chinese Republic. They are the latest in a growing line of musicians, including Jay-Z and Britney Spears, who have been barred from performing in China. Most recently, Bjork angered Chinese officials after she shouted “Tibet, Tibet” at the end of a concert in the country.

Other fans in the region have no fear, the rest of the South East Asian leg of the band's tour, including the Hong Kong show, will go ahead as planned.
