The master himself, Chali 2NA, is coming downunder on the 'low:fi' tour with Nas, Qbert and MC Supernatural. Whilst in Australia, he is treating Melbourne fans to a sideshow of his own at The Esplanade Hotel.
Chali 2NA made a name for himself thanks to hip-hop legends Jurassic 5 and Latin funk band Ozomatli. His solo career began in 2004 with his 'Fish Market' mixtapes, and his long awaited solo debut 'Fish Outta Water' (been working on it since 2006) promises to mark yet another stage in Chali’s creative evolution. Released in July, you can hear a diverse range of influences on the album with thanks to collaborators including Damien and Stephen Marley, Beenie Man, Talib Kweli, Anthony Hamilton and the late great J Dilla. This album is a far cry from the usual violence, sex, pimpin', dealin', druggin', and partying dribble on most of rap albums that is out right now.
Chali 2NA live showcases his somewhat progression from the days of J5, embracing a more serious and inspired creative mission than any of his previous work. With his 4-piece band and having been in the game for ten years or so, Chali 2na, is finally ready to unleash his solo assault on Australian audiences.
