Pete Doherty plays The Libertines in Manchester

Pete Doherty made a triumphant return to the live stage last night.

Jailbird Pete returned to some of his finest songs with the Libertines during a solo show in Manchester.

Doherty’s show at the Academy 1 in Manchester was his first solo date since his release from prison two weeks ago. The somehow, lucky boy got a 'get out of jail early' card given to him and was released from prison a lot sooner than if his name was Joe Blow.

Dressed in his trademark suit and trilby, Doherty wowed crowds with ‘What A Waster’ and ‘Up The Bracket’, as well as a selection of Babyshambles b-sides.

‘Time For Heroes’ and ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ were also aired later on in the performance.

We've said it before, and we'll say it again, welcome back Pete!
