Foo Fighters play with Led Zeppelin at Wembley

Over the weekend, the Foo Fighters played at Wembley Stadium. They also pulled a rabbit out of their hats: an encore featuring members of Led Zeppelin.

Frontman Dave Grohl dropped numerous hints throughout the show. “We’re gonna do something we’ve never done at a Foo Fighters show and it’s gonna blow your shit out the door!” he announced. “Tonight this is gonna be the show that we’re gonna be talking about for the next 20 years!” Sure enough, come encore time, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page strolled onstage (vocalist Robert Plant is touring the US, pity).

Grohl took over drums for a rendition of 'Rock and Roll', with Foos stick-man Taylor Hawkins on lead vocals. Then Grohl returned to the mic to lead 'Ramble On'. “Welcome to the greatest fucking day of my life!” he gushed as Jones and Page left the stage. We’re sure much of the 86,000-strong crowd felt the same way.

As for any news on Led Zeppelin's forthcoming world tour, Jimmy Page told The Telegraph newspaper that they will definitely be touring again one day, but it looks like it won't kick off until mid 2009. That's because Robert Plant is currently on tour throughout 2008 with Alison Krauss.

Please come to Australia!!!!
