Blur to reunite for Hyde Park concert

Blur fans, are you seated? Big big news was announced yesterday when Blur frontman Damon Albarn confirmed that the group will play a series of intimate warm up shows before their concert in London's Hyde Park next July. Yes that's right, they're officially re-forming!

"We have to play quite a few warm ups. I think we'll start really small and slowly…round the country," Albarn told the BBC.

He said it would be “a bit foolhardy” to just walk on stage at Hyde Park after a ten year hiatus.

The group, who last performed together at the Royal Festival Hall in 2000, are also rumoured to be headlining Glastonbury next June. A slightly better headliner compared to Jay-Z wouldn't you think?

All four original members of Blur will reunite for a special concert in London's Hyde Park next summer.

The gig, on July 3rd, will be the first time the band's original line up have performed together since 2000.

The confirmation comes just weeks after frontman Damon Albarn revealed he had rekindled his friendship with guitarist Graham Coxon, who left the band in 2002. Read more about that here

Let's not forget that they will be joined at the concert in London by Blur bassist Alex James and Blur drummer Dave Rowntree.
