Hockey to release 'Mind Chaos' on August 24th

Music Universe talked about Hockey earlier this year as being one of the breakthrough acts in 2009. (read here) Well, this American new wave band from Portland, Oregon are about to release their debut album 'Mind Chaos' on August 24th.

The band comprises singer Benjamin Grubin, guitarist Brian White, bassist Jeremy Reynolds, keyboardist Ryan Dolliver and drummer Anthony Stassi, and have been compared in their sound to bands such as The Strokes and LCD Soundsystem. They count Passion Pit, Fleet Foxes and Friendly Fires as some of their closest peers.

They released a catchy tune 'Too Fake' earlier this year which earned them spots on the Glastonbury, T In The Park and upcoming Reading/Leeds festivals bills. Just recently another single came out from the band titled 'Learn to Lose' which will keep your feet tapping. Other notable demo tracks that have made it onto the internet and are worth hunting down are '3am Spanish', 'Song Away' and 'Work'. Let's hope they all make it on to their debut album 'Mind Chaos'.

When asked in a recent interview if life in a band was everything they had expected, Brian responded with "It's a lot busier than I expected it to be, you're away from where you live like 99% of the time. Maybe it's changed over time, maybe it didn't used to be like that. Bands would would just tour for two months at a time. Now it's a nonstop touring fiasco!" Anthony went on to say "everything's pretty new to us really. We don't even know the extent of what being in a band is. We've only been doing this for six months in a professional sense."

Jeeez are we looking forward to this album being released.
