Kasabian hit Australia with swine flu

Tom Meighan of Kasabian jetted down to Sydney yesterday for a promotional visit, and was then rushed to hospital after exhibiting swine flu symptoms.

Bandmates – guitarist Serge Pizzorno, bassist Chris Edwards and drummer Ian Matthews – have also been left bedridden after coming down with the same symptoms.

‘We’re all sick as dogs,’ Pizzorno told British tabloid The Sun, ‘It’s pretty terrible. It’s a bit of a virus that we picked up in Japan. It’s so tough. I am confined to my hotel room and I look out and see the Opera House and the harbour and so want to be out there in it all.’

Ironically, the band's last gig in Japan was played in front of an audience entirely dressed as doctors and nurses. The band arrived in Australia on Monday and have been bogged down with interviews to promote hit album 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum'.

Serge explained: "I have discovered the joys of audio books so I am just sitting here and listening to these old dudes read classic books out loud to me."

The band have been forced to cancel all shows in Australia. After such a highly anticipated wait for Kasabian to hit Australia, looks like fans are going to have to wait that tiny bit longer. Word is that they will be back very soon for a proper tour. Falls? Big Day Out? Either way, we at Music Universe will be counting down the days.
