Many have quietly speculated on whether Good Vibrations festival headliner Kanye West would have time in his schedule for sideshows on his forthcoming Australian tour. Well speculate no more, as the official word has come from Justin Hemmes, head of Good Vibrations tour agent Jam Music; there will be no Kanye sideshow love!
A sideshow had been planned for Acer Arena in Sydney, but Hemmes told News.com.au that the event was now off the drawing board. “We just didn’t have time to promote the show right,” Hemmes remarked, also explaining that the decision to cancel the planned concert came from organisers, rather than Kanye himself. “His philosophy is you’ve got to have the best show to go with the best music and singing,” Hemmes went on to explain. “And by all reports, this is going to be an amazing show. It has come with a huge technical rider.”
We’re unsure where Kanye would have found time to fit the show on his itinerary. Arriving on Saturday February 9 for the Melbourne festival, he then immediately leaves the following day (missing the Gold Coast leg of the tour), so he can appear at the Grammy Awards in the US. He then returns the following weekend for the Sydney and Perth festivals. Regardless, at least he’ll be clocking up some serious frequent flier mileage.
