The Hold Steady announce sideshows

The 2009 lineup for the St Jerome's laneway festival was announced a few weeks ago now, but we rex most people haven't come down from the high they experienced yet. Anyway, to add to the excitement machine, a couple of the bands have announced sideshows.

Most notably for the Music Universe staff is the announcement of The Hold Steady's sideshows. The brooklyn based boys have released four albums this century, each one getting better and better. 2008's 'Stay Positive' probably became their most widely acclaimed album yet. We look forward to seeing them both at the festival and their own gigs.

It’s been a long six years since Stereolab’s last visit, but they’re still in fine stead. The band’s ninth album, 'Chemical Chords', was released in August to glowing reviews, blending Motown, doo-wop and synth-pop into a cohesive whole. They'll be hitting a couple of cities with intimate gigs.

Canadian trio Born Ruffians also delivered one of 2008’s best albums with 'Red, Yellow & Blue' and their live show is nothing short of energy packed too.
