The team at Music Universe have been working around the clock today. At least 3 major festival announcements in the one day!!! Just amazing. Australia is becoming a monster when it comes to music.
Anyway, this time we're going to talk about The Sydney festival, which is fast becoming one of the best festivals in the world. Curators have just emerged from behind closed doors to announce the first acts for the 2009 festival.
Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds are bringing the All Tomorrow's Parties festival to Cockatoo Island. For weeks we've known about the festival at Mt Buller, VIC, but now they have decided to extend it to NSW too. The musician behind one of the most amazing releases this year ('For Emma, Forever Ago'), Bon Iver, will be performing at the Spiegeltent. Sexy French artiste Camille will be playing some shows at City Recital Hall, as will The Cinematic Orchestra (as mentioned a few weeks ago).
Here is the other notables on the lineup so far:
•Bill Callahan
•Bon Iver
•Camille
•The Cat Empire
•The Cinematic Orchestra
•Four Tet
•Grace Jones
•Holy Ghost!
•Matthew Herbet Big Band
•Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
•Santogold
•Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings
•St Vincent
•Throwing Muses
More acts are yet to be announced, especially for shows at the Becks Festival Bar.
All tickets go on sale 10 November from ticketek.
Looks like its going to be another amazing summer in Sydney.
